Did You Get Your Fulton County Tax Assessment Yet?

If so, it's likely that your fair market value increased significantly.  Personally, my tax value increased almost 40%.  According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the median increase is 13%, but values in some neighborhoods rose as much as 79%.  The reason for the increase is that Fulton County hasn't adjusted tax values in recent years to reflect the increase in market values.  If you disagree with the valuation, you can appeal to the Board of Tax Assessors based on a number of factors (like value or uniformity of assessment).  If you find the appeal process too daunting, there are firms that specialize in property tax appeals for a fee.  Helpful links to the Board of Assessor's website and Georgia.gov info are below.
