Real Estate and COVID-19

People are looking for some guidance regarding buying or selling in the current environment, so here’s my two cents. There are still buyers who have to buy and sellers who need to sell. If you’re just thinking about either, then it makes sense to wait and see how things play out in the next few weeks, especially if you’re a buyer whose available equity comes from the stock market. There are sellers who are concerned about showing their homes over fear of contamination, and that’s understandable. So in an already supply-constrained market, there may be even less inventory coming online. And interest rates are incredibly low right now, which should drive buyer urgency. Bottom line, there are motivating factors for both sides which should help to maintain market activity during this crisis.
